Charles Emmanuel II, Duke of Savoy (Carlo Emanuele II di Savoia); 20 June 1634 – 12 June 1675) was the Duke of Savoy from 1638 to 1675 and under regency of his mother Christine of France until 1648. At his death in 1675 his second wife Marie Jeanne Baptiste of Savoy-Nemours acted as Regent for their nine-year-old son.

First marriage[edit]

On 4 March 1663 Charles Emmanuel II married Françoise Madeleine d'Orléans, a daughter of Gaston of France and Marguerite of Lorraine. Françoise Madeleine was a sister of La Grande Mademoiselle, as well as the Grand Duchess of Tuscany, and first-cousin of Louis XIV. They had no children.

Second marriage[edit]

On 20 May 1665, he married Marie Jeanne of Savoy, Mademoiselle de Nemours, they had one son. Marie Jeanne was a daughter of Charles Amadeus of Savoy, Duke of Nemours an a sister of Queen Maria Francisca of Portugal.

Children[edit]

  1. Victor Amadeus II of Savoy 14 May 1666 – 31 October 1732) future King of Sicily and later of Sardinia. Married Anne Marie d'Orléans and had children before her death in 1728. He later married his mistress . Anna Canalis in a morganatic marriage.
