Charles Emmanuel IV of Sardinia (Carlo Emanuele Ferdinando Maria; 24 May 1751 – 6 October 1819) was King of Sardinia from 1796 to 1802. He abdicated in favour of his younger brother Victor Emmanuel, Duke of Aosta.
Marriage[edit]
On 21 August 1775, Charles Emmanuel married Marie Clotilde of France, the daughter of Louis of France, Dauphin of France and Marie Josèphe of Saxony, and sister of the future King Louis XVI. Despite the marriage being a political alliance, Charles Emmanuel an Marie Clotilde became devoted to each other. They had no issue.
