Charles II of Spain (Spanish: Carlos II; 6 November 1661 – 1 November 1700) was the last king of Spain of the House of Habsburg. His death without an heir caused the War of the Spanish Succession where King Louis XIV of France proclaimed his grandson, the Duke of Anjou as Philip V of Spain.
