The upbringing of the Brazilian imperial family has not changed much over time. Traditionally, the heirs to the throne and other royal children were educated privately by tutors, shortly after the military coup of 1889, the Brazilian imperial family was expelled from Brazil, thus, the education of members of the imperial family began in France and other countries of Europe, where over the years, several members were educated in schools, universities and receiving university degrees.
