Emmanuel Philibert of Savoy (2nd) Prince of Carignano (20 August 1628 – 23 April 1709) born deaf he was the second Prince of Carignano as son and heir of Thomas Francis, Prince of Carignano. Emmanuel Philbert constructed the Palazzo Carignano as a personal residence in Turin where he died in 1709 to be succeeded by his eldest surviving son.


Marriage[edit]

On 10 November 1684 in the Royal Castle of Racconigi, Emmanuel Philibert married Maria Angela Caterina d'Este with whom he had four children.

  1. Princess Maria Isabella of Savoy (14 March 1687 – 2 May 1767) married (1) Alfonso Tapparello, Count of Lagnasco, no issue. married (2) Eugenio Ruffia, Count of Cambiano, no issue married (3) Cavaliere Carlo Biandrate, no issue.
  2. Maria Vittoria of Savoy (12 February 1688 – 18 May 1763) married Onorato Malabayla, Count of Canale but had no issue.
  3. Victor Amadeus of Savoy, Prince of Carignano (1 March 1690 – 4 April 1741) married Vittoria Francesca of Savoy and had issue.
  4. Prince Thomas Philippe Geatano of Savoy (10 May 1696 – 12 September 1715) never married.
