Frederick Augustus III (Friedrich August Johann Ludwig Karl Gustav Gregor Philipp; 25 May 1865 – 18 February 1932) was the last King of Saxony (1904–1918). Born in Dresden, Frederick Augustus was the eldest son of King Georg of Saxony.


Marriage[edit]

On 21 November 1891, he married Archduchess Luise of Austria, Princess of Tuscany, daughter of Grand Duke Ferdinando IV of Tuscany and Princess Alicia of Parma.

Issue[edit]

  1. Georg, Crown Prince of Saxony (15 January 1893 – 14 May 1943) never married.
  2. Friedrich Christian, Margrave of Meissen (31 December 1893 – 9 August 1968) married Princess Elisabeth Helene of Thurn and Taxis and had issue.
  3. Prince Ernst Heinrich of Saxony (9 December 1896 – 14 June 1971) married Princess Sophie of Luxembourg and had issue.
  4. Maria Alix Carola stillborn (22 August 1898)
  5. Princess Margarete Carola Wilhelmine (1900–1962) married Prince Friedrich of Hohenzollern.
  6. Princess Maria Alix Luitpolda (1901–1990) married Franz Joseph, Prince of Hohenzollern-Emden.
  7. Princess Anna Monika Pia of Saxony (1903–1976) married firstly Archduke Joseph Franz of Austria and secondly Reginald Kazanjian.
