The Prince of Condé was the head of the Condé cadet branch of the House of Bourbon. The Prince had the rank of First prince of the French royal blood and was entitled to use the style Most Serene Highness though this was rarely used verbally but in writing. Founded in 1557 the branch went extinct in 1830. The 1st Prince of Condé was also an uncle of King Henry IV of France. Members of the family are sometimes incorrectly named 'Bourbon-Condé' which is wrong because Condé refers to a title and had no relevance to the family name which was simply de Bourbon as legitimate descendants of the House of Bourbon.
