The House of Holstein-Gottorp is a cadet branch of the House of Oldenburg. Junior branches of the house ruled Sweden between 1751 and 1818, Norway from 1814 to 1818, Russia (Holstein-Gottorp-Romanov line) briefly in 1762, and again from 1796 until the end of the monarchy in 1917, and Oldenburg from 1773 until the end of the monarchy in Germany in 1918.
The senior member of the family is Dimitri Pavlovich, Duke of Holstein-Gottorp. The junior Grand Ducal Oldenburg line is headed by Christian, Duke of Oldenburg.
