The House of Waldeck is a German aristocratic family from whom emerged the Counts of Waldeck, who also controlled the County of Pyrmont from the early 17th century. They have belonged to the hereditary princely class since 1712 and ruled their state of Waldeck-Pyrmont, which had been constitutionally united since 1848 until their abdication in 1918.
