Infanta Maria Teresa of Spain (María Teresa Antonia Rafaela; 11 June 1726 – 22 July 1746) was an Infanta of Spain by birth and later a daughter-in-law of King Louis XV. She died during childbirth aged 20, Her only child, a daughter died aged two, leaving the Dauphine with no descendants.


Marriage[edit]

On 23 February 1745 the Infanta Maria Teresa married Louis Ferdinand of France, Dauphin of France, the only surviving son and heir of King Louis XV of France. They were married in the Royal Chapel of the Palace of Versailles with the French royal court in attendance. She was known in France as Marie Thérèse.

Children[edit]

  1. Marie Thérèse of France, Madame Royale (19 July 1746 – 27 April 1748). Named after her mother , she died in infancy.
