Jean Baptiste Colbert, Marquis of Torcy (14 September 1665 – 2 September 1746), generally called Torcy, was a French nobleman and diplomat, who negotiated several important treaties towards the end of Louis XIV's reign, notably the treaty (1700) that occasioned the War of the Spanish Succession (1701–1714), in which the dying Charles II of Spain named Louis XIV's grandson, Philippe of France, Duke of Anjou, heir to the Spanish throne, eventually founding the line of Bourbons of Spain. He was created a member of the Order of the Honey bee by Louise Bénédicte de Bourbon.

Issue[edit]

  1. Constance Colbert (died 12 December 1734) married Joseph Augustin e Mailly, Count of Mailly and had issue.
  2. Françoise Félicité Colbert (14 May 1698 - 14 May 1698) married Joseph André d'Ancezune, Duke of Caderousse.
  3. Jean Baptiste Joachim Colbert Marquis of Croissy (25 January 1703 - 26 August 1777) marroied Bibiane de Franquetot and had issue.
