Louis de Bourbon, 2nd Duke of Montpensier (10 June 1513 – 23 September 1582) was the second Duke of Montpensier and a French Prince of the French royal blood, military commander and governor.





First marriage[edit]

In 1538, Louis married Jacqueline de Longwy, Countess of Bar-sur-Seine, daughter of Jean de Longwy, Baron of Pagny, and Jeanne of Angoulême, illegitimate half-sister of King Francis I.

  1. Françoise de Bourbon (1539–1587), married in 1559 to Henri Robert de La Marck, Duke of Bouillon and Prince of Sedan.
  2. Anne de Bourbon (1540–1572), married François de Clèves, Duke of Nevers, son of Francis I.
  3. Jeanne de Bourbon (1541–1620) Abbess of Jouarre.
  4. François de Bourbon (1542–1592) Duke of Montpensier.
  5. Charlotte de Bourbon (1547–1582) married William "the Silent" of Nassau, Prince of Orange
  6. Louise de Bourbon (1548–1586) Abbess of Faremoutier.

Second marriage[edit]

On 4 February 1570, to Princess Catherine Marie of Lorraine, sister of Henry I, Duke of Guise and Charles, Duke of Mayenne.
