Boris, Prince of Tarnovo (born 12 October 1997)[1] is the heir to the headship of the Royal House of Bulgaria.


Prince Boris was born in Madrid, Spain the elder son of Miriam Ungría y López and Kardam, Prince of Tarnovo, and the grandson of former King Simeon II of Bulgaria. After the death of his father on 7 April 2015, he his the heir to his grandfather.[2] In April 2022 it was announced that upon the death of his grandfather he will be known as the guardian of the Crown of Bulgaria.[3]

Boris, who has maintained close relations with the Spanish royal family since his father's death, speaks Spanish, English, French and some Bulgarian.[4]

Prince Boris is an artist,[2] devoted to sculpture, plays the guitar and was educated at the Lycée Français Molière in Villanueva de la Cañada in the vicinity of Madrid.[4] He completed his baccalaureate studies in Austria.[4]
