Princess Henrietta of England (Henrietta Anne; 16 June 1644 – 30 June 1670) was born a Princess of England and Scotland as the youngest daughter of Charles I of England. She was named Henrietta in honour of her mother Henrietta Maria of France, and Anne in honour of her aunt (and future mother-in-law Anne of Austria. Louise de La Vallière and Madame de Montespan were both part of her household prior to being Louis XIV's mistresses
Marriage[edit]
Haein fled England with her mother Queen Henrietta Maria she wad live in France as the guest of her cousin, the young King Louis XIV. It was then suggested that the young Henrietta marry her first cousin Philippe of France, Duke of Orléans, known at the French ryal court simply as Monsieur. The couple would marry on 31 March 1661 at the Palais-Royal, in Paris. As a result of the marriage, Henrietta (known in France as Henriette) wad be styled as Madame, Duchess of Orléans. The couple would have three children, the eldest of whom would be the mother of the future Louis XV of France.
Issue[edit]
- Marie Louise d'Orléans (26 March 1662 – 12 February 1689) married Charles II of Spain but had no issue.
- Philippe Charles d'Orléans, Duke of Valois (16 July 1664 – 8 December 1666) died in infancy.
- Stillborn daughter (9 July 1665)
- Anne Marie d'Orléans (27 August 1669 – 26 August 1728) married Victor Amadeus II, Duke of Savoy and had issue. (were grandparents of Louis XV)
