Princess Marie Louise Thérèse of Savoy (Maria Luisa Teresa; 8 September 1749 – 3 September 1792) and a confidante and close friend of Queen Marie Antoinette. Princess Lamballe was murdered in the French Revolution, but not by the guillotine. She is best known to history as the "Princesse de Lamballe". She was a sister-in-law of Louise Marie Adélaïde de Bourbon, wife of the future Philippe Égalité. She was a descendant of Jeanne Baptiste d'Albert. She acted as the Surintendante de la Maison de la Reine to Marie Antoinette and was considered the favourite of the queen as well as her lady-in-waiting.

Born in Turin, a daughter of Louis Victor of Savoy (The "Prince of Carignano") and his wife Princess Christine of Hesse-Rotenburg, she was born a "Princess of the Duchy of Savoy".
Marriage[edit]
Referred to Mademoiselle de Carignan in France, prior to her marriage, she was betrothed to Louis Alexandre de Bourbon, Prince of Lamballe (prince de Lamballe). The Prince of Lamballe was the eldest son an heir of the Duke of Penthièvre Lamballe and Princess Marie Louise married by proxy on 17 January 1767 then on the 31 January in person. The couple lived in Paris at the Hôtel de Toulouse. The Prince had several mistresses and the couple would have no children before the Prince of Lamballe died 6 May 1768 frae sexually transmitted diseases. The widowed Princess of Lamballe inherited part of his fortune making her a wealthy woman in her own right.
