A prince du sang (Template:IPA-fr, Prince of the Blood) officially a Prince du sang royal français (Prince of the French royal blood) is a person legitimately descended in male line from a sovereign. The female equivalent was princess of the blood, being applied to the daughter of a prince of the blood.
Famous princes of the French royal blood[edit]
- Louis Philippe I. One time Duke of Orléans and late King of the French.
- Philippe Égalité.
- Le Grand Condé. Famous military man during the reign of Louis XIV.
- Le Grand Conti. Famous military man during the reign of Louis XIV.
- Louis Henri, Duke of Bourbon, Prince of Condé Prime Minister to Louis XV.
Order of precedence at court[edit]
- The King.
- The Queen.
- The Dauphin of France (title of the heir to the throne)
- The wife of the Dauphin. (called the Dauphine.)
- The children of the reigning monarch.
- The children of the previous monarch
- The Princes of the blood. (The Duke of Orléans followed by the Prince of Condé then the Prince of Conti.
- The nobility. For example, Dukes (duc), then Counts (comte), other titles such as baron & Chevalier.
