Vassouras branch
The Vassouras branch is one of the branches of the House of Orléans-Braganza and, therefore, descends from the Brazilian imperial family through the maternal line, through Empress Isabel I of Brazil.
The branch was founded by Luís, Prince Imperial of Brazil, Isabel's second son, and by his wife, Princess Maria di Grazia of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, on November 4, 1908. Its name refers to the city of Vassouras, in Rio de Janeiro, where Pedro Henrique, Prince of Brazil, son of Luís, established residence after living as a farmer for some years in Jacarezinho, in Paraná.
